Kremlin denies interest in TNK-BP
Graham Ruddick, Telegraph, 26 Jun 2008The Russian president Dmitry Medvedev says the country's state-owned energy giants have no plans to buy into TNK-BP.
The owners of the oil venture, BP and Alfa-Access-Renova, are currently in the middle of a dispute over TNK-BP's future and there had been suggestions that Gazprom, Russia's largest gas company, could invest in it.
But Mr Medvedev, who previously headed the Gazprom board, said the Kremlin did not want to spend money on risky equity investments and rejected suggestions that Gazprom had considered investing.
